I learned the hard way, but you can never trust a friend.
I recently loaned, in my terms, a significant amount of money, which was promised to be paid back in a few days. The money was to be paid when this person received money from their estranged mom. That was two weeks ago tomorrow. Being the nice person I am, I allowed them to pay me on a Saturday... one week ago this past Saturday. It's now going on two weeks and I haven't seen a penny and this "friend" won't even address the subject.
I was there for them when they were in a pinch, and now when I probably won't make this months rent and can't afford my daughters birthday, they turned their back on me. This is so critical, that I may even risk my job, which I just started today; I became a driver for a local MPLS/StP courier company.
I loved my friend with all my heart, and would probably be stupid enough again to loan them money, but it is so disappointing that they would turn their back on what they said was a friend. I got used plan and simple. If I didn't run the risk of getting sued, and knowing everything I said above is fact, I would name this person and humiliate them. But, beyond this post and possible legal action, I'll take the high road.
My point in this whole post is to let everyone know, you can't even trust your best friend. I've learned this the hard way over the last couple years. If I didn't live to say one more thing, remember this: love your wife, your children, your grandparents and family. For they will be the only people you can ever trust.
