Less than 20 days until we decide the direction of this country.
What scares me is the socialist direction we're headed, and what scares me the most is we may elect a president who has served 140+ working days in the U.S. Senate. He has no leadership, no record, and he continues to lie about his association to a domestic terrorist.
We would be appalled if any candidate for office had Timothy McVeigh as their friend and associate, wouldn't we? How can we truly elect a man who hates America?
Truth be told, I am not 100% thrilled with my other option, but, he is a great American HERO! He is a man who has fought, almost died for, and loves America. He's not flashy, not the best speaker (he's got me beat if you've ever spent 10 minutes talking to me), and he may be a little too bipartisan for me. Yet, for 5 years he endured pain and torture unlike anything we may experience (and that's coming from me having worked Durand McDonald's). Yet, is all seriousness, he understands the challenges we face as individuals and as a nation. He'll look to the founders as a guide to these challenges.
The choice in this election is clear. In the past, I would get tired hearing "the most important election in our lifetime", but 2008 MAY BE the most important election of my lifetime. It's an election that will either move our country towards the failed socialist policies of Eastern Europe, Cuba, and South America, or we can choose to be grown ups, and support a system our founding fathers risked their lives for. Our system, capitalism, a democratic republic, is not perfect, yet it is the freest. Too many Americans take for granted the freedoms we have and all that have fought for them.
As I stated capitalism is not perfect, it has its faults. There will be winners and losers. It's hard to see a neighbor or friend lose a job or their house, but in America they can bounce back and many do. We allow individuals the freedom to start businesses, move from job to job, live without fearing government. Unfortunately, we're moving towards more government in our lives. Running our banks, our health care, our property and ultimately or lives.
I hope the day never comes, this election will tell which direction we go. Do we choose freedom, and yes, freedom does have its sacrifices. Or, do we choose the easy way, were government solves and tries to rid all our problems. Socialism IS NOT the way to go.
We're Americans, I am damned to see the country my grandfather fought for in World War II, turned into the very thing he fought against. I am damned to see my America turn into the puppet for Socialist Venezuela, and Cuba, countries which hate the freedoms we have. I am damned to see my America become a nation of sissies. I want my children to know, you'll fail more than succeed, but it is learning from those failures, that make you stronger, prouder, and successful.
God Bless the Great United States of America!
