So, the election is over. It was decisive to say the least. But with all the hype, the numbers were down from 2004. We must not sit back and let 2010 creep up on us.
As a conservative, what do we do? I present the following ideas:
1.) We start early by recruiting good solid conservative candidates for ALL districts, regardless of how blue they are. These candidates will bring life experiences, be articulate, and have a consistent conservative message;
2.) The next key to winning in the future will be to regain all the Republicans who felt the party moved to far left. We need to do this precinct by precinct and voter by voter. It is my belief that elections will be won by who can win a few votes here and there. It is now more than ever important to keep Republicans voting Republican.
3.) We need to sell our message of personal responsibility and low taxes. These ideas if presented with facts and coherently, will resonate with the electorate. The key is to be CONSISTENT among the candidates. Using facts and real life experiences. Each election should have a message of ideas like the Republicans had in 1994 in the Contract with America.
4.) FUND RAISE NOW! DO NOT USE PUBLIC FINANCING. The Messiah out spent McCain something like 5 to 1. In order to compete we need to have the resources to get our message out. The keys to 2000 and 2004 was a strong Republican financial advantage as well as a strong GOTV apparatus. We need to rebuild. Having the finances and teams in place election time will reap HUGE results.
5.) Any party leadership not willing to recommit, wanting to stick to the status quo, must be removed. There are many solid young conservatives willing to step up to the leadership and will have strong grassroots support.
Republicans, Conservatives, don't hang your heads low. Instead, get fired up. Now is the time to regain a party that's lost its way. We have a chance to steer the ship right.
God Bless the USA
